I threatened the Police on several occasions that I would make a formal complaint to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) if the police did not investigate my report about a
serial fraudster selling death trap cars on eBay and that the police stopped trying to pretend that this was a civil matter. This didn’t seem to disturb the police in the lease so it came as not surprise to me that the IPCC turned out to be a paper tiger wasting tax payers money whilst attempting to satisfy the public that we have accountability from the police.
Weeks after my complaint was filed I received a reply via the IPCC from the police and I knew that things would not be going well since the reply did not address any of my concerns and the response looked like a standard letter template and is more likely than not used as a response to all manor of complaints against the police and yet the IPCC let the police get away with this poor behaviour and expect the public to be satisfied that justice has been served.
I had made a request under the freedom of information act to the justice department to try and quantify my claim of police corruption when in investigating and reporting eBay fraud but alas the only reply I got was a two page document informing myself how records were only kept at regional levels and that no distinction was made between normal fraud and cyber crime.

Most people don’t even try to raise a complaint with the IPCC because they realise it’s a fixed game but just look at the results for the people that are more persistent and more likely than not have a good claim against the police! 89% and that’s according to official results end up in the bin.
Strangely the IPCC did not ask me to take part in this survey and it certainly didn’t include the above 89% of complaints that were thrown in the bin so maybe instead of asking people if they think the IPCC would do the job they are supposed to do they should concentrate on asking people that have actually raised a complaint about how they feel the IPCC dealt with the complaint.
Clearly the public has little or no confidence in the ‘independence’ of the police complaints committee and whilst they advised me that their decisions was final, I would like to advise the committee that the truth is final and can not be ignored and I feel that the IPCC should be disbanded and replaced by truly independent panel of judges/people that come from normal backgrounds outside of the judicial system to ensure no conflict of interests takes place.
