Chinese golden dragon feedback scam

This is a perfect example of a ring of scam artists operating out of China.

It was uncovered by “dalarry” from Quebec, Canada and represents an outstanding job of cyber detective work.

The way this works is that they open a new e-bay account and use the shill bidders listed on the right side of your screen to make many fake purchases for the purpose of racking up fake positive feedback to give the seller the appearance of legitimacy.

At this point they start unloading fake gold jewellery to unsuspecting buyers as fast as possible until they start receiving negative feedback from the people they have robbed. Now they stop selling from that account and move on to a new one and start all over again. For this reason none of the accounts ever get past 50 feedback ratings as you can only carry this so far.

The colour coded list on the right is a list of these sellers, if you look at the first 20 feedbacks of each of these sellers you will see they nearly all come from the same shill bidders.

Look at the dates they joined, look at the appearance of their sites, all very similar, look at the items for sale, all the same and note the number of yellow start and how many accounts are now closed. This is all the same person or an organized ring that also includes the names listed below so please click then names below and look at the adverts and ask yourself why is eBay unable to make the connection and remember this is just the tip of the iceberg.

VOGUE DESGIN 14KT YELLOW GOLD ???

Thanks for that dalarry and the list of other names involved in this scam and I have already contacted eBay about this case but unfortunately I won’t be holding my breath even for one of them automated responses.

eBay's Billion Dollar Scam We believe eBay make $1 billion a year from misleading, fraudulent, stolen, or counterfeit items offered for sale on eBay. We report some, and eBay do nothing leading us to conclude that eBay are content to makes profits from fakes, fraud, and deception. That's more than the GDP of countries like Monaco.

Scams, Fraud, Lies, Deception
We are convinced that eBay hosts a large number of auctions and other for sale listings, which are lacking in honesty or integrity in some way, and that a significant proportion of its listings are unethical, dishonest, misleading or fraudulent in some way. Over a period of time, we have noticed listings which would contravene UK Trading Standards laws, or other UK or international laws. We have read most of the eBay publicity and guidelines, and believe there is also a vast gulf between what eBay says and what appears to actually happen. Only major single frauds seem to get media attention, and we believe these are only the tip of a gargantuan iceberg. full story

Again the trading standards come under fire and it seems to me judging by the pattern of all these accounts that eBay should be able to have software to spot these patterns and to then investigate further instead of relying on experienced members to report these case whilst newer members are being ripped off but lets see what other are saying.

Buying feedback is against eBay’s policies. Many sellers bend the rules with e-books priced from as little as a penny. Even worse there are e-books which advertise how to gain feedback - i.e. buy more e-books! It’s time eBay banned all e-books, as other sites such as Tazbar have.

One of the few good side effects of Feedback 2.0 is that it instantly shows a seller who has artificially boosted their feedback with buying. full story

I can see eBay stamping down on selling feedback at such low prices as they don't get much of a cut from the deal however it seems to be such a common practice that you can now download tools that go out and spend 50 pence for you and it comes back with 50 100% feedbacks to help hide negatives or builds up an eBay account that can later be sold.

zorro
For those that are already familair with the Penny Arcade Auction Mall, they apparently got kicked off of eBay, but they're still available on Yahoo Auctions (providing feedback on eBay).

For those that aren't familiar - PAAM sells a tools which instantly connnects you to 50 guaranteed Buy It Now penny auctions -so you can get 50 new and different positive feedbacks in about 1/2 hour. Good for newbies and anyone that may have a recent negative they want to bury.

At Yahoo Auctions, they're very much out in the open - search for "ebay feedback" and they'll be 2nd or third on the list.

Hope this helps someone out. full story

Buying feedback is an insult to honest eBayers and it is a reasonable assumption that in many case these types of accounts will be used to defraud unsuspecting eBay members but since eBay won’t police themselves then it comes down to sites like this one and if you suspect anyone of shill biding or buying feedback then please put them on our watch list .

What a con

Hi

Thanks for enlightening me to this fact as I did not have a clue that this was possible. Over the years I have proudly built up very good feedback and the information is showing that anyone can achieve this by paying pennies. This is outrageous, and should be stopped by E-bay, how can you trust any sellers feedback results with this info.

Also I would now think twice about buying gold from e-bay, how can people advertise gold as 100% and its not real, these people give genuine sellers a bad name and should be outlawed.

I am now of to the Jewellers to see if I have been conned.

Thanks for the info.

Sonia T
